Closing Colorado’s mental health access gap

 

At a recent gathering hosted by Marathon Health at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Colorado leaders from across healthcare, business, education, and government came together to address one of the state’s most pressing challenges: access to mental health care.

The conversation focused on the growing gap between rising behavioral health needs and the limited, often fragmented systems designed to meet them. Panelists explored how the traditional separation of mental and physical health care creates barriers for patients—and how more integrated, person-centered models can improve access, reduce stigma, and better support the whole person.

Bringing together diverse perspectives, the discussion underscored a shared takeaway: closing Colorado’s mental health access gap will require stronger collaboration across sectors and a more connected approach to care that meets people where they are.
